Attorney Indicted for Lying Under Oath About Clean Air Reports

Chicago-area attorney John Lee was indicted for making false statements while testifying under oath before a federal grand jury and obstructing justice, according to the Department of Justice.

Lee was charged in an indictment unsealed Nov. 25 with telling a grand jury that he didn’t advise Hyundai Construction Equipment Americas LLC employees to submit an erroneous Transition Program for Equipment Manufacturers report. TPEM is implemented by the Environmental Protection Agency, and allows equipment manufactures to install engines that don’t meet emissions standards for up to seven years, as long as they comply with certain reporting and other regulations.
