The US Supreme Court agreed to look at whether an AT&T Inc. subsidiary can be held liable for submitting a fraudulent claim for reimbursement to a government program that helps schools and libraries in rural and economically disadvantaged areas obtain affordable broadband internet.
In an order Monday, the justices said they will consider Wisconsin Bell’s appeal of a lower court decision that said it must stand trial for allegedly charging schools and libraries more for internet services funded by the federal program.
