Arnold & Porter has hired Venable’s Jami Mills Vibbert as a New York-based partner on its privacy and data security team.

Vibbert had been a partner at Venable’s cybersecurity group, and has experience in global data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity matters in industries including life sciences, healthcare and financial services, the Washington-founded Arnold & Porter said in a statement Wednesday announcing the move.

“Jami is a well-known industry expert who will enhance our ability to advise our clients on issues surrounding the protection of valuable data assets in a complex and rapidly changing regulatory environment,” said Arnold & Porter Chairman Richard M. Alexander said in that statement.

“She brings to the firm substantial experience in advising on business strategies to comply with the complex privacy and data security landscape, responding to data security incidents, representing clients in connection with regulatory investigations, and litigating contentious disputes,” Alexander added.

Vibbert, whose earlier experience included clerking for New Orleans U.S. District Judge Lance Africk and working as an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright, counsels clients on compliance with data protection and privacy requirements and creation of global data strategies and programs.

She also advises clients on developing digital health and tele-health solutions.

“I am honored to join Arnold & Porter’s privacy and data security team, and believe that the firm’s platform -- including its premier Life Sciences and Financial Services practices—will allow me to provide a comprehensive offering to clients,” Vibbert said in a statement.
