The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit Tuesday challenging Arkansas’s new law that prohibits doctors and other health-care professionals from providing or even referring transgender minors for gender-affirming care.
The state government is unconstitutionally discriminating against transgender people and violating the fundamental right parents have to make decisions concerning the care, custody, and control of their children, the ACLU argues in the complaint filed on behalf of four transgender young people under the age of 16 and their families in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas.
