Arizona May Enforce Ballot Count Rule, But Not Intimidation Rule

The injunction against an Arizona voting regulation under which votes that aren’t certified on time aren’t counted must be lifted, but the injunction against a regulation outlawing intimidation near the polls may remain, the Ninth Circuit said Tuesday.

This is one of myriad state voting rights laws that have come under legal scrutiny lately. For example, Alabama’s restrictions on absentee voters is currently being challenged in the Eleventh Circuit. The Fifth Circuit also recently upheld Texas’ voter assistance restrictions.
