Appeals Court Questions Power to Fire Voice of America Head

A federal appeals court appeared skeptical of the Trump administration’s claims that it may remove the director of Voice of America as part of its broader dismantling of the broadcast network.

The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit heard oral argument Thursday in VOA director Michael Abramowitz’s challenge to an attempt by US Agency for Global Media leader Kari Lake to fire him last year, bypassing legal procedures that require an independent board to approve such moves.
