A group searching for the wreckage of Amelia Earhart’s lost plane defeated the fraud claims of a financial backer of its expeditions, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit ruled May 27 in an unpublished opinion (Mellon v. Int’l Grp. for Historic Aircraft Recovery, 2015 BL 165705, 10th Cir., 14-8062, unpublished 5/27/15).
The backer alleged he was misled about whether the Earhart plane had already been found before he gave his donation to fund a 2012 expedition, the court said.
