Audit Sought of Prosecutor Conflicts in Alaska Judge Scandal (1)

Alaska’s federal public defender wants a Justice Department watchdog to review how top prosecutors in the state handled potential conflicts between their lawyers and a US judge who resigned over misconduct findings.

The conflicted prosecutors not quickly revealing the conflicts of interest leaves the US attorney’s office “in a poor position to identify and evaluate the damage from this scandal,” Jamie McGrady, who leads the federal defender’s office in Alaska, said Wednesday in a letter obtained by Bloomberg Law.
