Airline Group Wants to Stop Massachusetts Sick Leave Law

A group of major U.S. airlines that includes American Airlines, United, JetBlue, and Southwest, along with deliver services FedEx and UPS, is asking a federal court to declare the Massachusetts paid sick leave law unconstitutional as applied to flight and ground crews.

The state’s Earned Sick Time Law violates the U.S. Constitution because it frustrates the uniform system of federal regulation applicable to the airline industry, according to a lawsuit filed April 4 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.
