AI Inventors’ Patent Challenges at Heart of PTO Initiative

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is seeking public comments on policy challenges facing inventors who want patents to protect artificial intelligence-based technology.

A notice to be published in the Federal Register Aug. 27 solicits answers to a dozen questions covering patent examination policy, including whether AI calls for new types of intellectual property protection.
