Adidas Exec Gets Prison Term Paused in NCAA Kickback Case

An Adidas executive, a consultant with ties to the shoe company, and a sports agent won at least temporary reprieves from their prison sentences for wire fraud tied to college basketball kickbacks, after the Second Circuit on Friday granted motions to stay their convictions while they seek U.S. Supreme Court review.

They will ask the high court to consider whether a wire fraud conviction “demands a finding that the object of the fraudulent scheme was to ‘obtain money or property’ from the alleged victim,” the defendants said in a brief in support of their motion for a stay of mandate. ...
