Abortion Drug Approval Challenge Too Late, Drugmaker and DOJ Say

A group of physicians’ attempt to strip a decades-old government approval of widely used abortion medication is getting pushback from the Department of Justice and drugmaker Danco Laboratories, which in US Supreme Court filings argued the challenge is too little, too late.

Filed Tuesday, the arguments come in response to the Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine and others’ attempt at getting the Supreme Court to unravel the Food and Drug Administration’s 2000 approval of Danco’s drug Mifeprex, the name brand of the abortion medication mifepristone.
