Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. won final approval of class action settlements valued at $605 million in multidistrict litigation over allegedly defective airbags made by Takata Corp.
The deals with Honda and Nissan gained final approval Feb. 28 from the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
The settlements cover only financial losses associated with the replacement of recalled airbags from Takata, which filed for bankruptcy protection in 2017. Some 20 percent was allotted for attorneys’ fees.
An estimated 4.4 million individuals are covered by the latest class action settlements.
