North Carolina Judicial Ballot ‘Curing’ Frozen by Fourth Circuit

A Democratic North Carolina Supreme Court justice must get an opportunity to bring constitutional claims against a Republican effort to disqualify select voters, a federal appeals court ruled.

The US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit on Tuesday froze a ballot “curing” process ordered by North Carolina state courts so that sitting Justice Allison Riggs has time to argue that her GOP challenger’s lawsuit to exclude voters from select counties violates the US Constitution’s equal protection clause.
