Tropical Storm Arthur is expected to bring “life-threatening flooding” throughout the southeastern US as it moves across Texas, leaving torrential downpours in its wake and possibly spawning tornadoes in the region.
Arthur had top winds of 45 miles an hour and was about 20 miles north-northwest of Matagorda, Texas, the US National Hurricane Center said in a 4 p.m. local time advisory. It’s the first named storm of the 2026 Atlantic season.
