Texas AG, Samsung Reach Agreement on Smart TV Data Collection

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton secured an agreement from Samsung Electronics America on the collection of certain data from smart TVs, according to an emailed statement.

• Samsung to halt collection of automated content recognition data without obtaining Texas consumers’ express consent
• Samsung to promptly update its smart TVs and implement disclosures and consent screens regarding the data collection
• NOTE: Texas AG Sues Sony, Samsung, LG, Hisense and TCL Technology
