SCOTX Considers Detransitioner Lawsuit

The Texas Supreme Court will make history today, when it hears arguments on how long people have to file medical malpractice suits over gender-affirming care they later regret. (It’ll be the first of any high state court to do so, Mary Anne Pazanowski reports.)

The specific question justices are considering: When is the state’s two-year statute of limitations triggered?

The plaintiff, Soren Aldaco, is one of a handful of “detransitioners,” who sued her former counselor, Barbara Wood, for allegedly negligently recommending a double mastectomy in 2021. The lower court said that’s when the the clock began. ...
