First Gas Into Rio Grande LNG Plant in Texas Expected 2H 2026

First gas is expected to start supplying NextDecade Corp.’s Rio Grande LNG project in South Texas in the second half of the year, with first LNG expected by early 2027, according to the company’s first-quarter results.

  • Rio Grande LNG near Brownsville is under construction with five production units
  • Co. remains in discussions with buyers for its planned train 6; development continues for trains 7 and 8
  • Customers at Rio Grande LNG include Shell, TotalEnergies, ENGIE, Exxon Mobil Corp., among other Asian buyers
