In trying to capture a fugitive hiding in Vicki Baker’s McKinney home in 2020, city police knocked down her backyard fence with a BearCat, fired about 30 tear gas canisters through the windows, and knocked down the front and garage doors.

Now, a Fifth Circuit panel seems inclined to side with Baker to uphold $60,000 in damages the US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas awarded her last year after the city declined to pay, Jacqueline Thomsen reports.
