The Onion’s Infowars Bid Paused
A Texas state appeals court issued a last-minute order pausing The Onion’s move to license the intellectual property of Alex Jones’ Infowars, delaying a planned turnover, James Nani reports.
The order temporarily freezes any asset turnover. The judges also paused a larger appeal of defamation judgments against Jones related to his false claims that the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012 was a hoax. The order means a court-appointed receiver controlling Infowars’ parent Free Speech Systems must put the brakes on his bid to license trademark and associated domains.
