Zoom Faces Brazil Investigation Over Possible Privacy Violations

Zoom Video Communications Inc. faces an investigation in Brazil over possible consumer harms tied to use of the company’s app for web conferences.

The Brazilian Federal Department of Consumer Protection, part of the country’s Justice Ministry, asked Zoom to supply details by April 18 on data sharing to determine if the platform violated any privacy rules.

The preliminary investigation is focusing on issues tied to reported data transmissions from Zoom to Facebook Inc.'s platform operated on Apple Inc. devices, the department said in an April 8 letter to the company.
