YouTube Inks Deal in Social Media Addiction Row Ahead of Trial

YouTube reached a settlement-in-principle in the ongoing litigation over claims that some of the major social media platforms are addictive to minors, two law firms announced Tuesday.

The settlement amount with YouTube is confidential, law firms Morgan & Morgan and Panish Shea Ravipudi LLP said. The trial against Meta Platforms Inc., Snap Inc., and ByteDance, will proceed and is set to start July 27 in Los Angeles.

The case was brought by a minor plaintiff known as “R.K.C.” who sued the social media companies behind Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Snapchat, and TikTok.
