Wi-Fi Alliance Enhances Passpoint Sign On, Network Selection, Security

The Wi-Fi Alliance, an industry association of technology vendors and service providers that develops Wi-Fi specifications–including the Passpoint spec—and certifies that equipment meets operating and interoperability standards, demonstrated the latest set of Passpoint features at the Wireless Broadband Alliance Wi-Fi Global Congress in San Francisco on October 8.

The new Passpoint features mirror cellular network operation, making Wi-Fi more directly comparable to—and competitive with-traditional mobile networks.
