Viasat Inc.’s $4 billion takeover of Inmarsat Group Holdings Ltd. faces an in-depth UK probe amid competition concerns over the plan to create the world’s biggest geostationary satellite company.

The Competition and Markets Authority said Friday it will take a closer look at the tie-up after it previously found concerns that it could lead to airlines and consumers facing higher prices and poorer onboard Wifi. It set a March 30 date to reach a final decision.
