Verizon Strikes $315M Deal with Cox To Acquire Spectrum, Jointly Market Services

Verizon Wireless has reached another deal to buy spectrum from a cable operator.

Cox Communications announced Dec. 16 that it has agreed to sell its Advanced Wireless Services band spectrum licenses to Verizon for $315 million. As part of the deal, the two companies will also market each others’ residential and commercial services.

The agreement is similar in scope to one Verizon announced two weeks ago with the consortium of cable operators known as SpectrumCo, which includes Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc., Bright House Networks, and had once counted Cox as a member (233 DER A-18, 12/5/11). ...
