The UK government is seeking expanded access to the technology that drives models for artificial intelligence companies, Financial Times reports, citing several unidentified people familiar with the discussions.

  • UK officials are negotiating with firms, such as OpenAI and Google’s DeepMind, to examine the internal operations of their large language models
  • Developers are reluctant to share the technology since it could disclose proprietary information about the products or make them targets for cyberattacks
