U.S. Tech Workers Appeal Decision Backing STEM Training Program

A group of U.S. technology workers is challenging the latest ruling in its long-running lawsuit to dismantle an Obama-era training program for international students with degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The Washington Alliance of Technology Workers on Thursday asked a federal appeals court in Washington, D.C., to review a U.S. district judge’s decision upholding the STEM optional practical training program—which allows foreign graduates of U.S. colleges and universities to work in the U.S. for one to three years, depending on the field of study, without applying for a visa extension.
