Trump Tariffs Found to Cost US Technology Companies $32 Billion

American consumer technology companies spent about $32 billion in additional Section 301 tariffs on US imports from China as a result of the trade war, an industry group reported Tuesday.

US companies doled out the most extra money for devices such as routers, computers, and cables as a result of the tariffs, the Consumer Technology Association found. The report looked at the effects of import restrictions from July 2018—when then-President Donald Trump began ramping up tariffs on goods from China—to December 2021.
