Trump Admin Split on Adding Chinese Chipmakers to Blacklist: FT

The US Commerce Department has compiled a list of Chinese companies including ChangXin Memory Technologies to put on an export blacklist, Financial Times reports, citing five people familiar with the matter.

  • List also includes some subsidiaries of Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation and Yangtze Memory Technologies Co.; both companies already on list
  • Some in the Trump administration argue that putting export controls on these groups now could hurt the ongoing trade talks with China, according to the FT
