TiVo Ruling in Comcast Case to Be Reviewed by Trade Agency

U.S. International Trade Commission said it would take a look at a judge’s finding that some of Comcast’s set-top boxes infringe a TiVo patent for a content search function.

  • The review will center on legal questions regarding infringement of the patent when it comes to non-redesigned models of the X1 box, the commission said in a notice posted on its website
  • The commission affirmed its finding that two redesigns of the device didn’t infringe the patent
  • Commission is considering Tivo’s request to block imports of certain Comcast boxes
  • Case is part of a dispute over renewal of a patent-licensing agreement ...
