Time Warner Cable “Edges Out” With Insight Buy

Time Warner Cable will expand its basic customer base by about 679,000 basic subs and 750,000 total residential and commercial customers with the acquisition of Insight Communications, announced Aug. 15. Insight been shopping itself for a number of months as its owners — a group of private equity firms together with Insight management — sought to cash in on their investments.

The Carlyle Group and Insight management took the company private in December 2005, and Crestview and MidOcean purchased a significant stake in the company in April 2010.
