PresenceLearning, a special education services provider, reached a $600,000 settlement with California Attorney General Xavier Becerra over its advertising practices, Becerra announced Wednesday.
The settlement resolves allegations that the e-therapy platform misrepresented its product. Under the settlement, PresenceLearing will undergo an independent expert review of its services.
Becerra (D) alleged the company made false or misleading statements to entice schools and parents to sign up for its teletherapy services. PresenceLearning allegedly claimed its services were as effective as in-person services, and that its online occupational therapy was suitable for most students with disabilities, according to a complaint.
