Tech Groups Hit Texas With Suit Over Social Media Content Law

A new Texas law restricting social media companies’ content practices is unconstitutional and would compel platforms to host extremist speech that violates their policies, tech trade groups are alleging in a lawsuit filed in a federal court in the state.

The Computer & Communications Industry Association and NetChoice urged the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas to block Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) from enforcing two sections of the law against their members, who include Twitter Inc., Alphabet Inc.'s Google, and Facebook Inc.
