Target Corp. is accused of infringing patents that cover methods for sending targeted messages to customers based on location.
Plaintiff Dyfan LLC alleged that Target is infringing U.S. Patent Nos. 9,973,899 and 10,194,292, which describe ways to broadcast content to mobile devices based on the device’s location.
Target is infringing the patents by using its mobile app to display deals on customers’ phones while they’re in the store, Dyfan alleged in a complaint filed Feb. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas.
