Starmer Announces Full Ban on Social Media for UK’s Under 16s

Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced what he described as a “full ban” on children using social media, one of the strictest online crackdowns in the democratic world and going beyond limits imposed by Australia last year.

“Today I can announce the government will ban access to social media for all children under the age of 16,” Starmer said in a press briefing on Monday morning. “I am not prepared to compromise on the safety and happiness of our children.
