Sprint, AT&T Challenge FCC on 5G Network Deployment Order (1)

Sprint Corp., AT&T Inc., and Puerto Rico Telephone Co. are suing the Federal Communications Commission over an order aimed at speeding up the deployment of 5G network infrastructure.

The companies Oct. 25 are separately asking three different federal appeals courts to set aside part of an FCC order that, beginning next year, will allow wireless carriers to sue cities and countries if they miss the deadline for acting on applications for small wireless facilities.

The lawsuits join the growing legal challenges to the FCC’s plans to lift barriers for deploying small cell equipment essential to launching 5G wireless technologies. More ...
