The Senate passed landmark legislation that would require social media companies to make their platforms safer for kids, representing the most significant congressional action to regulate the technology industry in over 25 years.

In a rare display of bipartisanship in Washington, senators voted 91-3 on Tuesday in favor of two bills (S. 2073) that seek to bolster privacy and safety features for children on social media websites, including Meta Platforms Inc.’s Instagram, TikTok Inc., and Snap Inc.
