Securus Technologies Inc. won’t record California prisoners’ calls to approved numbers, the phone provider said in a settlement that received preliminary approval.
Securus also agreed to notify inmates when their calls may be recorded or monitored, under the settlement preliminarily approved Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Southern California.
The settlement resolves a class action alleging that the prison phone provider recorded calls with inmates in violation of the California Invasion of Privacy Act and California Business and Professions Code.
