‘Secret’ Artificial Intelligence Commission Subject to FOIA

The recently established National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence is subject to the Freedom of Information Act and must process record requests submitted by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC), a nonprofit research center, a Washington court ruled.

The commission, created to report on advances in artificial intelligence to the President and Congress, must comply with FOIA because it’s a federal agency, Judge Trevor N. McFadden of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia said.
