SAN FRANCISCO—An SAP AG subsidiary Sept. 14 was fined $20 million on its guilty plea to illegally downloading Oracle Corp. software and committing criminal copyright infringement (U.S. v. TomorrowNow Inc.).
TomorrowNow Inc., which ceased operating in 2008, waived indictment and pleaded guilty to using credentials from Merck & Co., Honeywell International Inc., and other companies to unlawfully gain access to Oracle software.
The Bryan, Texas-based TomorrowNow competed with Oracle and provided third-party maintenance and support services to business, government, and other organizations that used enterprise software licensed from Oracle, including PeopleSoft, JD Edwards, and Siebel Systems.
