Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign is being sued in federal court in Minnesota for allegedly texting voters seeking support without their consent.
Bernie 2020 Inc. allegedly sent the texts in October 2019 using an automated dialing system in violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, according to the class action filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota.
Sanders’ campaign is being sued a week after Chief Judge John R. Tunheim refused to throw out a case against President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign in the same court, alleging violations of the same law.
