Russia’s high court ruled for the first time April 19 that sharing illegal content on social media can entail confiscation of a device that was used to access the social networking site.
The Russian Supreme Court upheld a lower court order to confiscate a personal computer after an individual used it to share Nazi insignia over major local social network VKontakte (VK), despite claims that the computer was owned by another person.
The Krasnodar regional court had also imposed a fine of 1,500 rubles ($22) on the individual.
