Ransomware Dip So Far in 2022 Is Temporary Boon, Cyber Firm Says

Fewer ransomware attacks in North America compared to last year gave some relief to federal contractors at heightened risk of malicious cyber activity.

A midyear report on the cyber threat landscape by the research arm of SonicWall, a cybersecurity company, identified a 42% decline in ransomware attacks in North America. SonicWall recorded more than 236 million ransomware attacks globally from January to June, a 23% decrease from the same period last year.

Last month registered the lowest number of ransomware attacks in nearly two years, according to the report, but the regional breakdown showed a 63% increase in Europe. ...
