Qualcomm Partially Released from Patent Suit Over Snapdragon

Qualcomm Inc. convinced a Texas federal judge to release the parent company from Polaris Innovations Ltd.’s patent infringement suit over Snapdragon and X Series processors.

Judge Alan Albright granted Qualcomm’s motion to dismiss after previously denying it, according to an order filed Wednesday in the US District Court for the Western District of Texas. Qualcomm had argued the earlier denial was inconsistent with the court’s oral order months earlier which granted the motion.

“Polaris has expressly stated that it will take no action to bring Qualcomm Incorporated back into this case,” Qualcomm said in the motion.
