Qualcomm Inc. was handed an extra antitrust complaint from European Union regulators probing allegations the chip giant deliberately under-priced some products to thwart a smaller rival.
The European Commission sent a so-called supplementary statement of objections, adding evidence to a three-year-old investigation, the Brussels-based authority said in a website statement July 19.
The new complaint shows the EU’s determination to wrap up the second probe, which targets 3G chips for internet mobile dongles sold between 2009 to 2011. The EU alleges these were sold below cost in order to eliminate Icera, now owned by Nvidia Corp.
