Panasonic Sues Magna Over Camera-based Automotive System Patents

Panasonic claims Magna International is infringing four automotive patents used in advanced driver assistance systems and backup-alignment systems.

  • Magna and Austin-based Uhnder Inc. are co-developing a “radar on a chip” for Magna’s ICON Radar product, which mimics Panasonic’s rearview alignment camera system and surround-view camera system, according to a complaint filed in Waco, Texas
  • Advanced driver assistance systems incorporate multiple cameras and radar to give drivers a bird’s-eye view of their surroundings as well as the vehicle’s proximity to adjacent objects
