Oracle Accused of Infringing Former Hewlett-Packard Patent

Oracle, which moved its headquarters to Texas in December, was sued in its new home state Tuesday, accused of infringing a patent that until last year was owned by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Co.

  • The software giant was sued by a closely held Irish firm called Sonrai Memory in a federal court about 100 miles from Oracle’s new world headquarters in Austin that’s developed a reputation for being friendly to patent owners
  • Sonrai claims Oracle’s SPARC processors infringe the patent for decompression technology, according to the complaint filed in Waco, Texas
