Ohio Top Cop Sues to Regulate Google Like ‘Public Utility’ (1)

Alphabet Inc’s Google should be regulated like a public utility and blocked from providing search results that list its own products higher than competing sites, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said in a state court lawsuit.

Yost (R) is urging the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas to declare Google a “common carrier” in terms of its operation of Google Search, subject to regulation by the Ohio Public Utilities Commission and prohibited from favoring its own product lines in search results over competitors.
