Nuclear Technology Company BWXT Appoints New General Counsel

Nuclear power company BWX Technologies Inc. has appointed Toby Smith senior vice president and general counsel, overseeing all legal, regulatory and compliance matters across the enterprise.

Smith has more than 20 years of experience in law, including as in-house counsel for United Technologies Corp. and Otis Worldwide Corp., BWXT said Thursday. He also previously served for six years as a litigation associate for Hogan & Hartson LLP.

He succeeds Ronald (Chip) Whitford, who will remain in an advisory capacity until early 2026, the company said.
