NIST Issues Cloud Computing Guidance

RALEIGH, N.C.—Traditional network and security issues such as the need to provide data confidentiality, data integrity, and system availability are of concern for cloud computing, the National Institute of Standards and Technology said in a recently issued guide (Special Publication 800-146, Cloud Computing Synopsis and Recommendations). By imposing uniform management practices, certain security and response issues may be addressed, the agency said. In addition to the need for effective security controls and a sound privacy policy, web browser security features also are of concern, according to NIST.
